Cindy Crawford Honored

Supermodel Cindy Crawford was honored at Capitale last night during the Linked Against Leukemia gala, the second annual benefit for DKMS, a German-based foundation that helps connect leukemia patients with hard-to-find bone-marrow matches. Speaking of the disease that claimed the life of her younger brother when she herself was a little girl, Crawford expressed excitement that today's treatments (and the possibility of finding suitable donors) ensure that afflicted children do not have to suffer the same fate. Also honored was Phillips-Van Heusen CEO Emanuel Chirico. Emceed by Mario Cantone and with entertainment by Natasha Bedingfield, Sarah Connor and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, the night was attended by a flock of glam who's-who's, including Eva Mendes, Carol Alt, Morgan Fairchild, Shirin von Wulffen, and hairdresser to the stars Frederic Fekkai. All told, 1.18 million was raised during the evening, which will help DKMS add another 12,000 bone-marrow donors to its registry, which is already 1.7 million persons strong.
