Chapeaux in Central Park

Rain should never be part of the picture when society women gather for a garden lunch. Particularly when that lunch is the annual Frederick Law Olmsted awards, held in Central Park. One day each year, the city's most fashionable women get a reprieve from blow-outs at Frédéric Fekkai and John Barrett and instead cover their heads with hats of every size, shape and color. Mother Nature did not shine on this year's gathering—the 27th annual—still, the gloomy weather did not dampen attendance. More than 1,200 women showed off their chapeaux, helping the Central Park Conservancy raise $2.1 million. All in all, not bad for a rainy day.
