Go, Go Gottex!

Things heated up in the Tents at Bryant Park this evening when Gottex (a line known for its inventive fusion of technology and luxury) unveiled its Spring 2010 beach and swimwear collection. Head designer Molly Grad, who debuted her first collection last night, truly thinks outside the bathing-suit box by incorporating innovative fabrics like laminated tulle, plasticized lycra and sequined embellishments into her line. Yet Grad never forsakes classic shapes like bandeau and sweetheart tops. The swimwear was elegant and immaculately tailored, and in fact, many of the suits look like they could be worn on the red carpet as well as the beach (at least by the more daring starlets).

Detailed one-pieces in imaginative shapes, with exposed backs and strips of fabric straight down the torso also possessed ornate necklines that resembled chunky wooden necklaces. The finely tuned color palette in the collection consisted of gold, white and royal blue. These hues, combined with the whimsical cover-ups on a majority of the models, evoked a Dionysian fete in Mykonos. Each suit is so detailed and different—and certain to make any woman feel like the belle of the beach. —Maura Kutner
