Because Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend

There were diamonds aplenty last night (and other jewels, too), thanks to Van Cleef & Arpels and New York's ladies who lunch—dazzling socialites who put on their finest gemstone jewelry for the School of American Ballet Winter Ball, held at the David H. Koch Theater, at Lincoln Center. It was all in the name of the school's 75th anniversary, a jubilee that will not soon be forgotten. Among those taking in a performance by the schoolchildren of the S.A.B. included Sarah Jessica Parker and former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton. And among those expected at the after-party (appropriately dubbed "Encore") were Penn Badgley and Blake Lively of Gossip Girl and master of electronica Moby.
