We'll Be There

He was there for his fans and now the time has come for us to be there for him. New Yorkers of all stripes will come to the historic Apollo Theater today to pay tribute to the late King of Pop. From 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., the public will be permitted to enter the theater (in groups of 600 at a time) to reminisce, to sing and to watch classic Michael Jackson videos. At 5:26 p.m. EDT (the exact time of the performer's death), the Reverend Al Sharpton will read an invocation in the singer's honor.

It was forty-two years ago that young Michael Jackson and his brothers made their debut on-stage in the Harlem hall as the Jackson Five.

FAST FACT: The Jackson Five did a whopping 31 performances at the Apollo in a single week, reportly working for the grand-total sum of $1,000.
