Pumped up on Pisco
It was a celebration of Peruvian Independence Day, but if you asked the majority of people partying at Tavern on the Green last night, what had brought them out was not a commemoration of that South American nation's independence from Spain, but the chance to imbibe some quality pisco.
A spirit that is beloved in Peru and Chile, pisco is not particularly well-known in the United States, but nonetheless had plenty of fans last evening. Specially made with Macchu Pisco, the signature spirit produced by New York Insider's very own Lizzie da Trindade Asher, a drink called Pisco Punch proved to be immensely popular, laying the groundwork for much lively conversation and dancing in Tavern's two park-facing courtyards.
When's the next Peruvian holiday? If there's pisco to be had, we'll be there, too.
